Origin of the name Yangdong
  • It used to be a field of reeds until 100 years ago, but during the Japanese colonial period, a big market started to stand up, and there was also a soccer field and wrestling field. There was a large spring, so it was called "Sammol," and during the Japanese colonial period, it was called Cheonjeong.
  • It was called Yangdong from the time the Dong name was changed in 1946 to get rid of the remnants of Japanese colonial rule, meaning to live prosperously based on the regional characteristics of a marketplace where people of various professions gather.
